The Florida Highway Patrol has release the name of the man killed in a crash on state road 100 Friday night.  47 year old Florahome resident Thomas Daniel Peedin was killed when his vehicle hit a tractor trailer truck

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly was elected Vice President of the Florida Deputy Sheriff’s Association this week at the organization’s meeting in in Wesley Chapel. Staly had previously served as a member of the Board of Directors for the association. The not-for-profit association was established in 2008 by Florida sheriffs to provide comprehensive benefits and a professional network, as well as camaraderie and a communications forum for Florida sheriff’s office employees. It is the largest organization of deputy sheriffs in the United States, with a membership of over 13,000. The

organization is most widely known for its “Lend a Hand” program that was responsible for distributing over $250,000 in benefits to the men and women who serve and protect the citizens of Florida since its creation in 2009. “I am honored to serve as Vice President supporting and representing the hard-working men and women of Sheriff’s Offices throughout Florida,” Sheriff Staly said. “All employees and volunteers of FCSO are members of the FDSA and one employee has already benefited from the ‘Lend a Hand’ program during their time of need.”



Tonight Teacher and Support Employee of the Year Gala: All winners from our individual school and department Teachers and Support Employees of the Year will be celebrated during a gala at Flagler Auditorium, Flagler Auditorium, 5500 State Road 100, Palm Coast, beginning at 6:30 p.m. It is at this event the District Teacher and Support Employee of the Year will be named. They will then go on to represent Flagler Schools in statewide competition.


Navy Bombing in the Ocala National Forest: Navy training schedules indicate that inert and live bombing will take place at the Pinecastle Range Complex located in the Ocala National Forest this week. Bombings at times can be heard in Flagler-Palm Coast. The bombings are scheduled as follows:

Friday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. – LIVE/Inert

Saturday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. – LIVE/Inert

Sunday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. – LIVE/Inert

During bombing periods wildlife may be temporarily displaced. Use extra caution when driving through the Ocala National forest and surrounding areas. Secure any items around your residence that could attract wildlife. Always be mindful of larger animals including black bears and practice bearwise measures.
