The Palatka man facing kidnapping charges after a hostage situation in Green Cove Springs Saturday night was awaiting trial in Putnam County for holding a gun to the same woman. That incident involving Lancy Keenon, 44, happened in August of last year. The woman’s teenage son was able to call authorities who came to the woman’s house and tried to talk Keenon into surrendering. He refused to comply and told Palatka police he wanted officers to shoot him, Eventually an officer was able to use a Taser to subdue Keenon. Keenon, who is in jail after being shot by a Clay County Sheriff’s SWAT team member Saturday, has a history of arrests including domestic battery, grand theft and traffic offenses dating back to the 1990s. He’s being held on $1 million bond for the latest incident that took place at the Speedway gas station where Keenon accosted his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend. He cut the woman’s seatbelt, followed the two when they ran into the station and, with a knife, held the ex-girlfriend hostage for four hours in a bathroom before being taken into custody. Keenon was out on bond for the first case; his bond for the latest case is set at $1 million.
