Florida Highway Patrol is seeking the hit-and-run driver who killed a 48-year-old Palatka woman Saturday night on Silver Lake Drive. At about 9:15 p.m. the front right side of a vehicle that was headed west on Silver Lake Drive struck the woman who was walking westbound near The Thicket development. The vehicle fled the scene and the woman was found on the westbound shoulder of Silver Lake Drive. Putnam County paramedics were called and took her to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead. FHP asks people to be on the lookout for a vehicle with a damaged front right side, a broken front headlight and possibly duct tape on the front right headlight area. If you spot the vehicle, call 9-1-1.
A memorial ceremony for murdered 13-year-old Tristyn Bailey is planned for today at the North Durbin Amenities Center in St. Johns County. Many of those attending will be wearing aqua, the girl’s favorite color. On Thursday her accused murderer, Aiden Fucci, now 15, pled not guilty at his latest court hearing. The two were neighbors in the Durbin Crossing community and attended Patriot Oaks Academy. Bailey was discovered missing on Mother’s Day of last year and the community turned out to search for her. Less than 24 hours later her body, stabbed multiple times, was found in a wooded area near her house.
Flagler County is looking at yet another housing development, this one expected to break ground next month and be completed by January 2024. The Klotz Group of Companies, a Jacksonville-based private equity real estate investment group, and KABR Group have secured a $38 million construction unit for a multi-family development of apartments.

Sheriff Rick Staly announced Friday a link between the January killing of Noah Smith, 16, and the killing last week of Keymarion Hall, also 16. Both shootings took place on Bunnell streets and there have been rumors of pressure put on potential witnesses to keep quiet, he said. The sheriff announced the arrest of Terrell Anthony Sampson, 18, of Bunnell in connection with Smith’s killing. He is charged in an unrelated case for possession of a weapon as a juvenile. A $15,000 reward is still posted for information leading to an arrest in the Smith killing.

Another vehicle crash with injuries and roadblock happened at 6:10 a.m. at Interstate 95 and Mile Marker 330.
